2016 finalist, actor and performer

BIO

Whaden is a singer, songwriter and entertainer from Mamre in the Western Cape. In his short career span, this multi-talented superstar has already graced many stages with great success and has proven that his talent and passion for acting, singing and the performing arts in general is truly his life calling.

While South African audiences may recognize him from portraying the role of Priester on the kykNET telenovela, Arendsvlei, his roots are planted firmly in ATKV-Crescendo.

After being discovered at the 2016 ATKV-Crescendo Mentorship Programme auditions, Whaden has become one of the up-and-coming musicians in SA thanks to his passion for music and charismatic stage personality.

He also appeared in numerous theatre productions. One of these productions is Krismis van Map Jacobs, a prescribed grade 12 drama that was presented to matriculants in the Western Cape.

He has acted in Die song wil my nie los nie, written and directed by Hennie van Greunen. In Mamre, written by Nico Scheepers, he tells the story of his people.

Whaden released a solo R&B album in 2018 named Mamre. In 2021, he released his much-anticipated video of Mosselbaaipunt, a song which he wrote in 2015.

He is currently a vocal and drama coach at Liron School of Arts, full-time performer, and production assistant with ATKV at the Stellenbosch branch after completing an internship in project and production management.
